Over the past couple of years, I’ve mostly posted book lists and activity ideas. Now it’s time for a short author update!
As an author/creative, there’s always something new to learn and try.
I’ve been signing up for more book events this spring. Some of them have been story times, but I’m also starting to do larger markets. It’s a fun experience, and I have a great time chatting with families at the events.
This week, I also did my first YouTube live in an interview with Teacher Kasie!

I’m also thrilled to be the Oregon SCBWI featured illustrator for May! I’ve shared my 2-cents on being an illustrator and using images to tell stories on the SCBWI website this month.
My favorite event, though, is the story time I lead at my local nature center. There, we add a mini hike to our story.
Sometimes, I’ll bring activities with me. Other times, we do “noticing hikes.” A slug, a flock of bushtits, or clump of maple flowers–each time, it’s something different.
Did you even know that maples have flowers?
They do—and this spring I got to show my group the buds from a big leaf maple! (And then I get to point out the tiny seeds poking out of the flowers!)
